A QR code scanner that works anywhere

This QR code scanner online turns any webcam or phone camera into a scanner, with nothing to install. Start the scanner, hold the code inside the square and it’s read in a fraction of a second. On phones it uses the back camera automatically, and if your phone supports it you can switch on the flashlight for dim menus and labels.

    Scan from a screenshot

Got a QR code in an email, a PDF or a screenshot? Use Scan an image to decode it straight from the file, which is handy on a laptop where you can’t point a camera at your own screen.

    Smart results

Links show the full address and domain before you open them. Wi-Fi codes are split into network name, security type and password, so you can copy the password in one click. Everything else (text, phone numbers, contact cards) can be copied to your clipboard.

    Private by design

Decoding happens on your device, using the browser’s built-in barcode detector where available and an open-source decoder everywhere else. No images or results are sent to a server.

    FAQ

    QR Code Scanner FAQ

How do I scan a QR code online?

Click “Start scanner”, allow camera access and hold the QR code inside the square. It’s read automatically, and the result appears below with options to copy it or open the link.

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot or image?

Yes. Click “Scan an image” and choose a photo or screenshot. The image is decoded on your device and never uploaded.

    Which barcodes are supported?

QR codes work in every modern browser. In Chrome, Edge and Android browsers that support the Barcode Detection API, the scanner also reads EAN, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec codes.

Is it safe to open links from QR codes?

Treat QR links like links in an email. We show you the full address before you open it. Check the domain carefully, and never enter passwords or payment details on a site you reached through an unexpected QR code.
