Why Online Camera exists

Most webcam websites fall into one of two camps. Some are bare test pages that show a preview and a handful of numbers nobody explains. Others bury a basic recorder under ads, pop-ups, sign-up walls and “premium” upsells. Online Camera started from a simple idea: your browser is already a capable camera app, so the tool should just get out of the way.

Today the site has 16 tools, from the main online camera with 16 live filters to aQR scanner, photo booth, document scannerand screen recorder. Every one of them is free to use, with no limits and no watermark.

How we handle your privacy

Every tool processes your camera, microphone and screen locally, using JavaScript running on your own device. Photos, videos, scans and recordings stay in your browser tab until you download them, and they disappear when you close the tab. We don’t run accounts, and we don’t upload what your camera sees. The privacy page covers the details, including the one tool that downloads an AI model to your device.

What we care about

• Honesty. If a feature is an effect rather than a measurement (like the thermal filter), we say so.
• Errors you can fix. When a camera fails, you should know exactly why and what to do next.
• Speed. Pages are small and load fast, and they keep working offline after your first visit.
• Accessibility. Keyboard shortcuts, readable contrast, light and dark mode.
